Description

Sam the Tram’s Dance Club is a children’s book unlike any other. The text is an Empowerment Script™. It’s meant to be read back and forth, from left to right and then right to left. The first line of text is written

just > as > you > are > reading,
.way < other < the < goes < next < the < and<
Left > to > right,
.left < to < right < then<

This style of writing, invented by the Ancient Greeks, stimulates connection between the two sides of the brain. The bilateral eye movements help can help any reader relax, let go of stress, and be more creative.

Professionals familiar with EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) will see the potential for readers with trauma or dissociation. This reading technique also holds promise for ADHD (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder) and dyslexia.

Join Sam, Melba, and the kids as they fix Grand Union Junction and learn to dance the “tramba.” Children can read this book alone or by following an adult’s finger movements. Grown-ups enjoy the book too!

With colorful illustrations, a gentle story about overcoming difficulties, and a breakthrough approach to reading, Sam the Tram’s Dance Club offers readers preschool and up a calming, fun way to build new neural pathways and healthier states of mind.

The original edition was published in Australia.
This is the North American Edition.

Who Should Read Sam the Tram’s Dance Club

For professionals (psychologists, counselors, social workers, others):
This book can be used with clients of any age to help them find relief from trauma. The back and forth reading style has the effect of connecting the hemispheres, similar to EMDR. Mental health professionals in Australia have successfully used this book with clients of all ages to address trauma.

Praise for Sam the Tram

A great addition to the therapy toolbox. Helping to settle the distressed child.
Dr. Sandra Hacker AO
Renowned Psychiatrist
Sam the Tram is an innovative self-help way of reducing physical tension and emotional stress in adults and children. My practice specialises in healing the results of trauma and I work with both adults and children. Over the 12 months that I trialled its use I was surprised to see an average 2 point drop in a client’s SUDS rating, i.e. Subjective Units of Distress, across the board. Sam the Tram has now become a tool that I frequently use following a session where the client encounters distress.
Kids suffering from anxiety, anger, or both, who have taken Sam home to read before bed reported a consistent calming. The colour and action introduce themes of help, co-operation, diversion from distress and fun. I have recommended its use when training psychologists.

What Is Empowerment Script™?

Lowen Clarke discovered, revived, and revised a method of writing and reading first developed and used by the ancient Greeks. The text is written from right to left on one line and left to right on the next.

Reading such a text requires bilateral eye movements, which have a calming and healing effect on the mind, particularly one that has been interrupted by trauma or dissociation. Mental health professionals who have used Lowen’s Empowerment Script™ with clients have found extremely positive effects, and is promising for dyslexia and ADHD.
